Ready to fly

My first international holiday is booked in. Well that is to say I have booked my flights.

I will be leaving on Monday 7 May and arriving in Los Angeles 3 hours before I left Melbourne. Don't you just love the time travel that crossing timezones allows? I'm not sure I will until I find out what jet lag is like.

After five nights in the City of Angels I will be spending three nights in Las Vegas, followed by six nights in New York, two more in Washington DC, and another two in San Francisco before I board a flight home (and basically lose 26 May as I cross the International Date Line in the reverse direction).

Now I'm trying to work out which Hotels I'd like to stay at. My current stumbling blocks are LA and Washington. In LA I can't decide which part of town I'd prefer to stay. In Washington DC I can't decipher from my print out which airport I'll be departing from and many of the hotels in the city are booked out.

I may cut my stay in Washington down to one day. I'll be getting there by train from New York in the morning. I might be able to see all the spots in the capital that I want to in the one day. The Smithsonian might chew up some time though. It might make DC a bit of a rush but I would get an extra day in New York.
